Belfast and Northern Ireland
Christian Dating Belfast: Meet Christian Singles in Belfast
For Belfast Christians who take Sunday seriously. 18+ only.
Three times the UK's churchgoing
Northern Ireland is by far the most churchgoing part of the UK. Research reported by The Irish News in March 2026 found that 35% of adults there attend church at least weekly, triple the UK average of 12%.
For Christian dating in Belfast, that changes the starting point. Faith is not a niche interest you have to explain on a first date. The harder question is often which church, and how two people from different traditions would make a life together.
Many traditions, one shared hope
The 2021 Census for the Belfast City Council area shows how mixed the city's church life is.
| Church or belief | Share of residents |
|---|---|
| Catholic | 43% |
| Presbyterian | 12% |
| Church of Ireland | 8% |
| Methodist | 3% |
| Other Christian | 6% |
| No religion or not stated | 24% |
Christian Love welcomes every one of these traditions. On your profile you can say how much your denomination matters, and our daily suggestions take beliefs and moral values into account. Catholic singles may also like our page on Catholic dating.
Landmarks of Belfast faith
St Anne's Cathedral, Donegall Street
The Church of Ireland cathedral that gives the Cathedral Quarter its name. Its stainless steel Spire of Hope was added in 2007 and is lit at night. Each year in the week before Christmas, the Dean and clergy sit out on the steps collecting for local charities, the Black Santa tradition begun in 1976, which has raised several million pounds.
St Peter's Cathedral, Falls Road
The Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Down and Connor, opened on 14 October 1866, with its twin spires added twenty years later.
Assembly Buildings, Fisherwick Place
Headquarters of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, home to Belfast's only peal of twelve bells, and where the General Assembly normally meets in the first full week of June.
C.S. Lewis Square, east Belfast
Belfast gave the world C.S. Lewis, and this public square honours him with seven bronze Narnia sculptures by Maurice Harron. East Belfast also hosts a C.S. Lewis Festival in November.

A coffee by the Lagan, a walk in the Botanic
Botanic Gardens, Queen's Quarter. Free to enter, with Charles Lanyon's Palm House of 1840 and the Tropical Ravine. The free Ulster Museum sits in the grounds if it rains, which in Belfast it might.
Lagan Towpath. An eleven-mile riverside path from Stranmillis to Lisburn, Northern Ireland's most popular public path, with cafés along the way at the Lock Keeper's Cottage and Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. Walk as far as the conversation lasts.
