Your safety

Christian Dating Safety: Meet With Confidence

Real checks and simple tools, so you can open your heart and still stay safe.

How we earn your trust

Looking for a partner who shares your faith takes trust, and trust has to be earned. At Christian Love we combine automatic checks with real human moderators. Photos, videos and words are screened as they are uploaded, unusual behaviour is picked up early, and you have simple tools to stay in control of who can reach you.

Christian Love is for adults aged 18 and over.

Identity and verification

Know who is real before you reply

Confirm who is genuine, without handing over more than you need to.

Free ID verification

An optional ID check puts a visible badge on your profile. It confirms members are genuine and makes catfishing much harder.

Video verification

A short live video check with one of our moderators confirms who you are, with no documents needed. You prove you are real without sharing sensitive ID.

Age checks

Age is estimated automatically, with further checks where they are required, which keeps under-18s out and protects vulnerable people.

You decide who sees you and who reaches you

A safe username

Your real name and email address are never shown on your profile, which stops people tracing you on social media or turning up uninvited.

Your town, never your address

Members see your nearest town or city, never your exact address or where you are right now, so your home stays private.

Block instantly

Block anyone at once and they can no longer contact you or see you. You choose who gets to talk to you.

Report quickly

Report a member or a post from inside Christian Love, so action can be taken quickly against abuse or bad behaviour.

A community that looks out for each other

  • Member ratings. Every member has a reputation score built from how they behave and the feedback they get, which helps you judge who to trust before you reply.
  • One-tap feedback. Rate a conversation up or down. It encourages good manners and flags bad experiences early.
  • Off-platform alerts. If someone tries to move your chat to WhatsApp or another app, you get a warning, because that is a common scam tactic.
  • Behaviour monitoring. Automatic checks spot unusual or suspicious activity, so scammers, bots and people who mean harm are found early.
  • Screening on upload. Automatic tools and human reviewers check images, videos and text as they come in.
  • Blurred explicit images. A picture that may be explicit is blurred with a warning, so nothing unwanted appears in front of you.
  • Quick takedowns. Ask for unauthorised or harmful content to be removed and we act fast to protect your privacy.

Behind all of this is a real support team, available around the clock. Your data, messages and payments are kept on secure, encrypted, PCI-compliant cloud servers, and we follow good practice through our involvement with the Online Dating and Discovery Association.

Romance scams that target churchgoers

Romance fraudsters know that Christians tend to be trusting, generous and quick to help, and they dress their stories in the language of faith. Jesus told his disciples, "be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves" (Matthew 10:16, NIV). Kindness and caution belong together.

Be wary of anyone who:

  • quotes plenty of scripture but says little about a real church, a real town or a real life
  • says God has told them you are the one, within days of saying hello
  • asks for money for a mission trip, a ministry, a sick relative or a ticket to come and see you
  • wants to move to WhatsApp or email straight away
  • always has a reason why a video call is not possible

Never send money, gift cards or bank details to someone you have met online, however sincere they seem. If anything feels wrong, report them. Our guide to the signs to watch out for when dating Christian singles online covers more warning signs.

Meeting safely, step by step

  1. Have a video call first, so you know the face matches the profile and the conversation flows.
  2. Meet somewhere public and busy, such as a coffee shop or a café in town, and stay there for the first date.
  3. Tell a friend, a family member or your small group leader where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to be home.
  4. Get yourself there and back, so you can leave whenever you like.
  5. Keep your home address and workplace to yourself until you know someone well.
  6. Trust that uneasy feeling. Leaving early is always allowed.

Questions about staying safe

Is Christian dating online safe?

Yes, with a few sensible habits. Use verified profiles, meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and never send money.

How can I tell if a Christian match is a scammer?

Watch for fast declarations of love, lots of scripture with few real details, refusals to video call, pressure to move to WhatsApp, and any request for money, however good the cause sounds. A verified badge is a good sign.

Will other members see my real name or address?

No. You use a username, your email is never shown, and your profile shows only your nearest town or city.

Does verification mean sending my passport?

Not if you would rather not. The ID check is optional, and the live video check with a moderator confirms who you are without any documents.
