Christian Dating Manchester: Meet Christian Singles in Manchester
Single Christians across Greater Manchester, ready to meet. 18+ only.
A city that still takes its faith onto the streets
Every Whit Monday bank holiday, churches gather at Manchester Cathedral and process through the city centre. The Whit Walks go back to Anglican Sunday Schools in the 1780s, and they are still walked today. This year's walk set off from the cathedral on 25 May.
It says something about Christian dating in Manchester. Faith here is not tucked away. It shows up in public, side by side with neighbours from other churches. If you are one of the people who turn out for a walk like that, say so on your profile.
Christians are Manchester's biggest group
In the 2021 Census, 36.2% of Manchester residents identified as Christian, according to Manchester City Council's census summary. That puts Christians ahead of people with no religion (32.4%) and Muslims (22.3%). In a city this busy, believers remain the largest single community, which means Manchester Christian singles are closer than you might think.
Sacred places with stories to share
Manchester Cathedral
It began around 1215 as a parish church beside the Hanging Ditch, became a collegiate church in 1421 and was only made a cathedral in 1847. Heavily restored after the Blitz, it is the starting point for the Whit Walks.
Salford Cathedral, Chapel Street
The Catholic cathedral of St John the Evangelist opened in 1848, the first Catholic church built in cruciform shape since the Reformation. If the Mass sits at the centre of your week, see our page on Catholic dating.
Gorton Monastery
E.W. Pugin's former Franciscan friary from 1872, nicknamed Manchester's Taj Mahal. It closed in 1989, was rescued and reopened in 2007 as a venue and community hub with a café.
The Message Trust
The Christian youth and community charity founded here in 1992 by Andy Hawthorne. Its Eden Network sends Christians to live in deprived neighbourhoods.
Who is waiting to meet you in Manchester
Manchester: from our member records.
Greater Manchester has more of our members than any UK region outside London. Here they are mostly women aged 35 to 44. Christian men in the North West are warmly welcome, and women can widen a search towards Leeds and West Yorkshire, just over the Pennines, or browse Christian singles across the UK.
A clear profile helps either way. Our Christian dating profile tips show how to say what your faith means to you without sounding like a CV.
Where to meet for that first coffee
The John Rylands Library on Deansgate is free, quiet and astonishing: a Grade I listed neo-Gothic reading room that looks like a cathedral, in a library that specialises in the history of Christianity. It also holds the St John Fragment, a scrap of John 18 generally accepted as the earliest known piece of New Testament text, on display since 2007. Few first dates come with a better talking point.
For something greener, Heaton Park in Higher Blackley covers more than 600 acres, the biggest park in Greater Manchester, with a boating lake and cafés. Walk, talk and leave whenever you like.
